Over 1.5 goals wins if two or more goals are scored in total — it loses only if the match ends 0–0 or 1–0 to either team. Under 1.5 wins if the final score involves zero or one goal: 0–0 or any 1–0 scoreline. In major European leagues, Over 1.5 lands approximately 75–80% of the time. This makes it a popular accumulator leg because the odds — typically 1.20–1.40 — are more meaningful than Over 0.5 while the outcome still hits in three quarters of matches. For singles, it compares favourably to backing a heavy favourite in the 1X2 market. Under 1.5 is a specialist market. It makes sense when both teams carry strong defensive records, when a key attacker is missing through injury or suspension, or in low-stakes table-mid matches late in the season where both teams lack motivation. Our xG-based model gives both teams an independent goal distribution — when the combined Poisson probability of ≤1 total goal exceeds a meaningful threshold, a dedicated Under 1.5 tip is warranted.
