All markets →
Total goals markets ask you to pick the exact band of goals scored in a match — typically offered as 0–1, 2–3, or 4+. Unlike Over/Under markets with a fixed line, total goals bands divide the outcome space into three or more segments, each with its own odds. The 2–3 goals band is the most frequent outcome across European football, covering around 40–45% of matches. This makes it the dominant choice for match predictions but also the most efficiently priced by bookmakers. The 0–1 band (around 25–30% frequency) and 4+ band (roughly 25–35%) offer more value but require stronger directional confidence from the model. Total goals prediction draws on the same Poisson goal modelling Sportdico uses for Over/Under 2.5, extended across the full scoring distribution. We calculate the probability of exactly 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5+ goals for every match. Surfacing this as a dedicated market tip — recommending the highest-probability band when it significantly exceeds the alternatives — is on the product roadmap. In the meantime, the Over 2.5 and BTTS market tips are the closest available proxies.

Frequently asked questions about Total Goals

What is the total goals market?

Total goals betting asks you to pick a goals band: 0–1, 2–3, or 4+. Each band has its own odds, and you win if the actual goal count falls within your chosen range.

Which total goals band lands most often?

The 2–3 goals band is the most common in top leagues, occurring in roughly 40–45% of matches. The 0–1 band and 4+ band split the remainder roughly evenly.

Is total goals the same as Over/Under?

They're related but different. Over/Under sets a fixed line (e.g. 2.5) and offers two outcomes. Total goals divides scoring into bands (0–1, 2–3, 4+), offering three or more outcomes with different odds.
